Rafal starts his PIPS in the States

Rafal Zdrzalek, a DTP student based at the JIC, has just started his PIPS placement at New England Biolabs in America. Raf is our second PIPS student to undertake his placement in the states (https://www.neb.com/). Raf’s previous Manager passed on a contact at NEB which Raf then followed up and set up the project from there.

New England Biolabs makes very high-quality enzymes and molecular reagents available to scientists worldwide, through research, development, production, distribution, and product support. Their lab has developed several single-strand nicking variants of normally double-strand cleaving restriction enzymes. Through this internship they will bring one or two new products closer to market as part of their Enzymes For Innovation project. Raf will be learning what specific steps are involved in bringing a new enzyme product into a mature but promising market, including understanding the product from a customer’s point of view, including previously unknown applications and usage.
