NRPDTP Supervisor receives a 2023 Innovation and Impact Award from UEA

I am deeply honoured to receive the 2023 Innovation and Impact Award for Outstanding Impact in Policy and Practice from the University of East Anglia (UEA). This award highlights our collective efforts in combating the wheat blast pandemic, a journey that truly encapsulates three core passions of mine: fostering open science, supporting the global south, and pushing the boundaries of cutting-edge science. The #OpenWheatBlast initiative’s success is a testament to the power of collaboration, featuring significant contributions from dedicated colleagues across the world, including DTP student Angus Malmgren. Together, we have demonstrated how integrating open science principles with global collaboration and advanced genomic technologies can expedite responses to protect vital agricultural commodities.
