BIO achieves Athena SWAN Silver Award

We are delighted to announce that the School of Biological Sciences has been awarded Athena SWAN Silver status.

The Athena SWAN Charter, created by the Equality Challenge Unit, is designed to promote the advancement of gender equality in higher education and research.  The award of Silver status in BIO recognizes our commitment to these values, and gives us a solid platform from which to embed equality and diversity throughout the School.

The bid for Silver status was led by Professor Tracey Chapman, who chairs our Equality and Diversity Committee and who also led our successful bid for Bronze status in 2013, and Katie Large, the project coordinator for Athena SWAN in Science.  We thank Tracey, Katie, and everyone else on the Committee for their work on the bid.

More information about equality and diversity in BIO is available the UEA Equality pages.
